It seems like only yesterday that a group of parents at Kahala got together to find out what we all wanted to do regarding furlough Fridays…We all voiced our desires.
- We want more than child care!
- We want our children engaged and learning!
- We want our teachers in the classrooms!
- We want a program at Kahala!
After much listening from both parents and a few experienced teachers, the plan for an enrichment program was born. It tickled my heart and exercised my mind not to become passionate about what was happening. It wasn’t exactly what I had dreamt about just 4 weeks prior, when I sheepishly sent a proposal to provide an enrichment program for 3rd thru 5th grade.
I still couldn’t believe it. Kahala was possibly getting their enrichment program back-maybe. It wasn’t going to happen exactly like before, but the possibility was surely closer than ever. Its funny how things work, especially when the PTO decided not to provide a program to fill the void left by furlough Fridays. This left me to either shelve the plan and move on to help with the HawaiiEducationMatters March or to keep moving full speed ahead…on my own with alittle help from my friends.
You guessed it. Here I am moving at light speed to ensure an engaged and learning environment for all students to start in just 7 days. I can only hope that the energy and spark we saw from the parents will light our CONNECTIONS! classrooms come Oct 23rd. We’ll be ready!
Save alittle with an early bird special–available for all those signing up on or before Monday, Oct 19th. Check it out at our Registration page and sign up today!
